Mondrian-Musik

A didactic Project on Hermann Meier

"Mondrian Music" is a project born at the Hochschule der Künste Bern for the Kunstmuseum Solothurn and the Städtliche Musikschule Solothurn. I and my Swiss colleague Jutta Schönhofer have organised a Workshop for the children studying at the Musikschule, where they could come in contact with the graphical works by the Swiss composer Hermann Meier.

The children knew a new way of composing music - graphical and painted scores -, drew and painted their own scores and explored the Rhythm with Body-Percussion and Orff Instruments to perform they own-composed scores.

Accessory experiences of this project were the art and works by Piet Mondrian and an introduction on electronic music.
